India Fairs Festivals

There is no reason for celebrations in India. the reverie of fun, frolic and fiesta remains in the air throughout the year. The Indian backdrop is one long pageant of colourful festivals - coming from different religions and faiths and bringing the whole nation together and united. These India fairs and festivals mark an occasion to take a break from the worldly woes and indulge into celebratory verve.

Some festivals are celebrated all across the nation whereas others may be region specific. Even if the way of celebration is different in various states, yet this festive spirit remains same.

Most of the times, this festive splurge multiplies along with fairs. Fairs or melas allow collective gatherings to celebrate the festival spirit. It can be based on religious, commercial, cultural or artistic themes. Famous melas are Kumbh Mela, India International Trade Fair, Qutub Mahotsav, Pushkar Fair, Kullu Dussehra, etc. Processions or Parades like Goan Carnival, Durga Visarjan, Ganpati Visarjan are also celebrated with warmth and excitement.

Besides all these fairs, special festive times also offer moments to indulge. Diwali, Pongal, Onam, Eid, Durga Puja, Christmas, Holi etc offer times to bond together and enjoy the luxury of life. Most of the festivals are based on the faith of the people, whereas others bring together same interest groups such as literary festivals, theatre festivals, music festivals like Tansen Samaroh, Surajkund Crafts Mela, etc.

Some festivals are region specific celebrated in full spirit by local people. A vast variety of fairs and festivals like snake boat race of Kerala, Monastery Festivals of Ladakh, Lohri and Baisakhi of Punjab are celebrated in different states with full fervour.
